Sock Yarn Selection

New Noro and New Ella Rae




We have added bins, literally, of Ella Rae Superwash, Extra Fine Merino, Latte just to name a few. Our Noro aisle is recently stocked as well. The colors will take your breath away.


This Week's Classes

Monday night is an Entrelac Scarf class. This is an intermediate class with a beautiful outcome. A compilation of triangles and squares that form a great basket weave pattern. Using a self striping yarn you are sure to get many compliments when this project is complete. We have lots of new yarn to make your project successful. Class runs from 6 – 8 p.m.

Knitting with Noro - Blythe knit along is Saturday night from 7 – 9 p.m.

New Yarn!!




The store is FULL of new yarn. We have tried to get something for everyone. We have lots of new baby yarn and pattern books. Almost all of it is machine washable, a big plus for babies.




Fall is Here...

...And that means new yarn, new books and CLASSES!! Our class schedule for the month of November is set so come in and sign up for something new. Especially fun is our skill builder blanket series. On alternating Friday's and Saturday's we will be knitting the Great American Afghan and the Noro blanket Blythe. So come in and learn a new technique. November 14 at 7 p.m. is the next class and it is a block from Blythe.

Handspun At Last!!


I finally have gotten the courage to put my handspun out for sale. There is quite the variety. I've been spinning lots of alpaca and then plying it with metalic thread. I call it Shiney Alpaca. Yardage varies.

New Plymouth Yarn







Great new Plymouth yarns have arrived. There are fun summer fibers like llama/cotton, alpaca/cotton and a great rayon/silk/cotton. The old staples like wool silk, wool cotton and single plies come in some very striking colors. Don't miss out on the selection.



June Reading Material




We've gotten more new books and magazines. We also received pattern books to go with the new yarn that is arriving weekly. The Noro books are great. Lots of fun stuff.


Sprucing up the shop


We were gifted some new old shelving so we painted the corner and the shelves white and have a bright cozy space at the back of the store for more yarn. Yeah!

Lantern Moon


We have received a shipment of Lantern Moon wooden needles. Treat yourself to a fun knitting pleasure. These are a dream. We also have cute new summery totes for carrying your favorite projects.

So sorry I've neglected you. Started a new job and a new schedule so getting in the habit. Hope to have a class schedule out by next week. Lots of new yarn coming in now plus magazines, books and patterns. I'll keep you posted.

The newest reading material




These are the latest books and magazines. One to note is the Pints and Purls book for all you Stitch-n-Bitch fans. It rates the projects by the number of drinks you've had. It's pretty entertaining. Sorry they are sideways - can't seem to rotate them today.




Buttons, buttons, buttons


These are very cool ceramic buttons from a South African Fair Trade Company. They are machine washable too. The selection is great.


Cross Stitch Patterns






We just received several very nice cross stitch patterns. We have the floss and fabric as well. Come in and browse the selection.

Classes Anyone?

Spring is in the air but not quite here so how about a few classes while we wait out the snow?

Tuesday, March 24 from 6 - 8 p.m. - Finishing Techniques
We will review ways to sew sweater pieces together, pick up stitches, make button holes, block your projects and any other finishing questions you may have. Feel free to bring a work in progress.
Cost: $15

Saturday, March 28 from 10 - noon - Beginner Knitting
We will learn to cast on and knit a basic cotton wash cloth.
Class: $10
Kit: $10

Monday, March 30 from 6 - 8 p.m. - The Moebius Scarf
Learn how to cast on and knit the magical moebius scarf by Cat Bordhi. Once you master the simple cast on and knit your first round, this scarf is a pleasure to work with your favorite luxury yarn. This class requires a book and needle purchase as well as your yarn.

Tax Free Day

Saturday, March 7 is Tax Free Day! The Rookery is turning this into a store event. We will be open at 9 a.m. and a discount of 30% will be given on all sales for the 1st hour. The amount of discount is reduced as the day goes on. Come on in and save taxes and $$.

Louet Yarn


We have new yarn from Louet that is absolutely fabulous. The Euroflax linen comes in 3 weights - fingering, worsted and chunky. This is great yarn for cable or lace work. We also got Merlin which is a merino/linen blend at a worsted weight. This yarn is machine washable and dryable and the color selection is good. The felting yarn has rich colors and good yardage at a chunky weight. Come in and try some.
